We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Automation Engineer/software application engineer to join our team. This role will focus on supporting automation projects for Mitutoyo measuring instruments across Mitutoyo Europe, Sales Companies, and customer locations. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Business Solution Support Group to implement and manage automation solutions, offer technical expertise, and ensure smooth project execution.
You’ll work closely in the Business Solution Support Group, where teamwork and open communication are key to successfully delivering automation projects. Together, we’ll tackle exciting challenges, troubleshoot issues, and provide tailored solutions to our customers across Europe. Your tasks:
- Work together in the Business Solution Support Group in realizing automation projects.
- Provide project support for Mitutoyo measuring instruments and automation projects across Mitutoyo Europe, Sales organizations, and customer locations within Europe.
- Report software bugs and ensure documentation of findings.
- Analyze customer Request of Quotation (RFQ) and recommend appropriate solutions using Mitutoyo measuring instruments.
- Perform live product demonstrations for customers on software and hardware products related to automation.
- Support European exhibitions, including managing exhibition inventory and arranging machines.
- Conduct training sessions for European application engineers at Mitutoyo Europe or Sales Co locations throughout Europe.
- Monitor market and customer needs for new product development, and automation solutions related to measurement technology.
- Actively engage in workshops organized by Mitutoyo Japan or Mitutoyo Europe.
- Willing to travel within Europe (approx. 25%).
Your qualifications:
• Engineering degree in the field of Mechatronics/electrical /software engineering or similar
• Expert in realizing automation projects, PLC programming, and basic software programming.
• High-level working experience in operating metrology instruments in the automation field.
• Good knowledge of the metrology market.
• Good programming Skills (C++, C#, Visual Basic programming, PLC programming).
• Experience with interfacing of metrology products with external devices.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols like PROFINET, MODBUS, RS232, etc.
• Able to set up and perform tests on measurement machines.
Software to be familiar with:
- Microsoft office (Outlook , Powerpoint , Excel).
- TIA portal
