You will be part of the Video Optimization team- a group with a clear focus and strong value to Hive. The team is dedicated to delivering video streams most efficiently, while providing our customers with the tools they need to ensure an outstanding viewing experience, without overloading corporate networks.
About the Position
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Hive's Video Optimization team. In this role, you will take ownership of complex projects, ensuring the success of live events for our customers by optimizing video distribution.
You’ll be part of a dynamic team of four, with colleagues based in both Stockholm and Berlin. Your work will have a direct impact on scalability, reliability, and efficiency, designing the most effective content distribution within customer networks.
Beyond development, you will play a key role in driving projects forward, solving intricate support cases, and improving system-wide performance. This is not just about writing code—it’s about shaping solutions that last.
What You’ll Do
- Lead projects from start to deployment, working primarily with TypeScript, JavaScript, and Java to build scalable and efficient solutions.
- Proactively solve challenges rather than waiting for direction.
- Work closely with Fortune 500 customers, defining and delivering scalable solutions to network issues.
- Improve and evolve our video optimization product with a strong focus on doing things right rather than quick fixes.
- Engage with a complex, multi-technology ecosystem, ensuring stability and performance.
- Challenge and refine documentation practices, including traditional system diagrams.
- Set high standards for engineering quality and contribute to the team’s technical direction.

Who You Are
You are a highly experienced engineer who thrives in solving complex technical challenges. You take initiative, drive projects forward, and aren’t afraid to dive deep when needed. We believe you have:
- Extensive experience in full-stack development, with expertise in Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Java (experience in additional languages is a big plus).
- A strong ability to navigate and solve complex support cases in large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working with multiple teams to design and implement high-impact solutions.
- A mindset that values long-term solutions over temporary patches.
- A structured yet adaptable approach- balancing best practices with pragmatic decision-making.
- A strong perspective on documentation, including system architecture and diagramming.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
