MAAS Aviation is a leading international aircraft painting company and is looking for a rounded HR Business Partner to join our team and develop HR function with our production location in Hamburg. In Hamburg we deliver painting services for new Airbus aircraft rolling from the production facility and we are proud to deliver the finishing touch on these new aircraft via our dedicated and experience team
Our HR department manages all aspects of human resources across our operations, including talent acquisition, employee development, and HR strategy. The team consists of a Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), HR Business Partner for Lithuania, HR Business Partner for the Netherlands, and a Payroll Group Coordinator. To further strengthen our HR operations and support across regions, the team is looking for an HR Business Partner in Hamburg, Germany, to enhance HR planning and execution.

Job summary
The ideal candidate for the HR Business Partner role is an experienced professional with a proactive mindset, eager to further develop their career in human resources. You will play a key role in driving HR functions across the business, working closely with employees, the HR team, and other departments.
This position also offers a unique opportunity for the HR Business Partner to play a key role in the implementation and development of an HR department within MAAS strategy, aimed at streamlining HR operations, enhancing reporting capabilities, and improving overall HR efficiency across the organization.
It is expected that the HR Business Partner will take on a hands-on role, driving key HR initiatives and contributing to the company's long-term success.
Key aspects of the role include:
- HR process management: Drive HR operations: recruitment, onboarding and contracting, labor resource planning, appraisal and evaluation.
- Employee relations: Advise management and employees, addressing workplace challenges and develop and support the implementation of staff engagement initiatives. Support the establishment of an effective working relationship with the Company’s works counsel
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to local labor laws and safety regulations.
- Talent Development: Implement training programs and skills set development initiatives to develop the employee skills in line with business needs.
Key responsibilities
The HR Business Partner will focus on facilitating effective collaboration between the HR team, management, and employees across departments, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational needs.
The key responsibilities are:
- Provide HR guidance to managers and employees on performance management, workplace conditions, and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations, particularly in the German context.
- Lead and oversee recruitment processes with focus on operational roles (painters) to meet organizational needs.
- Manage HR policies and procedures in alignment with MAAS Aviation's strategic goals.
- Coordinate and manage employee training programs, including occupational risk assessments, to support continuous growth and safety.
- Proactively manage employee relations, addressing workplace challenges and fostering a positive work environment.
- Monitor and analyse HR metrics, including turnover and absenteeism, and propose actions to improve performance.
- Collaborate with the HR team on group-wide initiatives, such as employee engagement, well-being programs, and leadership development.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personal protective equipment documentation, etc.
- Support the cooperation with the Company’s works counsel ( agenda setting, minutes and follow up on actions together with the local General Manager)Enforce workplace discipline and professional ethics.
- Prepare and present regular HR reports for the local unit and the broader MAAS Aviation group.
Qualifications and competencies
- Experience: minimum 5 years of experience as HR Business Partner preferably within a production or manufacturing environment.
- Education: Bachelor degree in Human Resources Management, or a related field.
- Languages: Fluent in German and English, preferably in Polish too
- Labor law knowledge: Good understanding of German labor laws and HR practices, including occupational health and safety regulations.
- Proficient in MS Office and HR software; experience with data analysis is an advantage.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse cultural environments.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and capable of working independently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple HR processes simultaneously.
