Apply your engineering skills to combat global warming and become part of the global movement for climate action.
About Seqana:
Seqana is an EU- and venture-backed start-up building monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) tools to drive soil carbon sequestration and the transition towards regenerative and climate-preserving agriculture.
One of the most powerful (and underutilized) solutions to climate change is capturing carbon in soils via regenerative agricultural practices. This approach has the potential for several times more climate impact than planting forests, while also providing extensive co-benefits such as erosion mitigation and improved water quality, food security, and biodiversity.
Existing solutions for MRV for the carbon market are one of the main drivers of cost and effort, and often the limiting factor for new project development. At Seqana, we combine satellite imagery, our extensive proprietary library of soil datasets, and machine learning to provide an accurate, cost-effective, and efficient MRV solution for soil organic carbon. Our product enables project developers, large corporations and NGOS with a scalable solution to measure and quantify the impact of their regenerative agricultural practices on soil carbon sequestration, enabling them to report credible CO2 reductions.
The Role:
Our growing team is looking for an experienced and motivated senior software engineer to help us scale our technical infrastructure and analytical products for soil carbon quantification. This role builds on and expands our data infrastructure, taking ownership of our core data and cloud systems, while also supporting the evolution of our backend and geospatial pipelines. You will be responsible for building robust and scalable infrastructure that powers our MRV tools, helping us deliver trustworthy and impactful climate solutions.
We're looking for someone with strong software engineering skills, a background in data-intensive systems, and an interest in geospatial or environmental data. You will join a cross-functional, mission-driven team working to bring transparency and integrity to climate action. We value proactivity, authenticity, creativity, and empathy in our company culture.
Tasks
- Implement robust, production-ready data tracking workflows across our analytics and product pipelines to make sure all input and output data is versioned, reproducible and integrated with our databases
- Support the automation, integration, and streamlined deployment of our analytical and product pipelines, enabling faster iterations and high-quality deliverables
- Contribute to the development of our geospatial data infrastructure, extending our capacity to store and process vector files, as well as high-resolution raster datasets
- Continue developing and supporting our internal project tracking & dashboarding infrastructure, working across teams to make complex business data easily accessible and interpretable
- Share ownership of our GCP infrastructure, including access control (IAM), infrastructure provisioning, data pipeline orchestration and system monitoring
Requirements
- A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with strong foundational knowledge in software development
- 4+ years of experience in engineering roles, building data-intensive backend applications and pipelines
- Solid programming skills in Python, proficiency with SQL, and working knowledge of orchestration tools like Airflow
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (ideally GCP), including infrastructure-as-code, IAM, and system monitoring
- Strong experience in software development lifecycle (version control, testing, CI/CD)
- A strong sense of ownership and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Clear communication and a readiness to take initiative in technical design discussions
- Motivation to contribute to climate action and sustainable development through technology
What makes you stand out:
- Experience working with raster data and geospatial pipelines in production environments
- Experience building/maintaining MLOps pipelines, incl. model training and deployment
- Previous exposure to earth observation, environmental monitoring or soil science data
Benefits
- Be part of our highly motivated, committed, and international team with flat hierarchies that is working on solving one of societies’ biggest challenges: Climate Change
- Witness and shape the evolution of a new business being built
- Collaborative DevOps culture with opportunities for continuous learning and improvement
- Work in a casual environment with flexible hours and some ability to work from home
- Competitive salary, benefits, and compensation package
- Drinks, snacks, team events, and your choice of hardware
Join us if you want to advance climate action in your daily work and are open to new insights and opportunities every day. Please apply with your CV and a short motivational letter.
Seqana is committed to building a workplace culture based on the values of proactivity, authenticity, creativity, and empathy, where equal employment opportunity is guaranteed to all applicants and team members. We are excited to build a team that celebrates diversity in all its forms.
