Position: Engineering Manager / Lead Engineer
Location: Berlin
As an Engineering Manager / Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our Tech department, overseeing the systems used by race organizers, drivers/riders, and racing teams worldwide for professional and amateur racing.
onGRID is the first and only all-digital platform in motorsports for all stakeholders. It covers the entire process from event hosting to registration, and from management to communication. In a fragmented market, onGRID introduces a single platform for teams and drivers to connect and register for any race with a few clicks.

What This Role Entails
- Lead and manage a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Drive the design, development, and maintenance of onGRID's systems. Implement features end-to-end as a Full Stack Engineer using the latest front-end and back-end technologies alongside your team.
- Proactively identify opportunities for product development in close cooperation with our C-Level executives.
- Continuously improve the environment and processes for product development.
- Implement and enforce best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing methodologies, and deployment strategies.
- Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our systems by implementing robust architectures and engineering practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Attend races to learn from organizers, teams, and drivers/riders to enhance our system.
Must Have
- A customer-centric and solution-oriented mindset; and an appeal for product management
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing and leading engineering teams, with a focus on fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- 5+ years of software development experience with TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Strong backend experience with NestJS, REST, and relational databases.
- Practical experience with AWS.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building scalable, reliable, and secure systems.
- Deep understanding of software engineering best practices, including agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Good communication skills that are clear, open, and concise, with professional proficiency in English and the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, race organizers, drivers, riders, and racing team managers.
- German language proficiency is not required but would be beneficial.
- We would like the successful candidate to be based in Berlin, Germany.
