Job Description
We are seeking a Junior Backend Software Engineer to join our 6-person team to help us to build geospatial software solutions. We are looking for a highly self-motivated individual with the right skill set to help us with our growing REST based ordering API.
European Space Imaging is Europe’s most successful provider of global high resolution satellite imagery based in Munich, Germany. Since its establishment in 2002. Our European technology partners are the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and GAF AG. Our key clients include the European Space Agency, European Union Satellite Centre and European Maritime Safety Agency.
The role is based in Munich, Germany. This is not a fully remote position, some in office presence is required.
Non-Negotiables
• Working proficiency in English.
• Citizenship restricted to EU member states, NATO member states, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, or Switzerland.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain our flagship ordering API.
• Assisting in proof-of-concept projects with our staff engineer and lead .
• Integrate our partners API’s into our own flagship API.
• Expand our flagship ordering API with new contracts for govt. and European entities.
• Improve internal tooling
Required Skills and Qualifications
• 1-2 years practical experience working as Software Engineer
• Previous experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS)
• Familiarity with technologies such as typescript, node.js
• Comfortable with version control (Git)
• Competency in basic languages of web development
• Comfortable working with REST interfaces
• Linux fundamentals
Nice to haves
· Hands-on experience working with OGC Standard APIs
· Some python exposure
· Cloud exposure (AWS, Open Telecom Cloud)
· Knowledge in the field of satellite remote sensing would be a definite plus
