This roll is unique to our organisation and will be required to support the development of our European vehicles locally as well as globally - jointly with our teams in our headquarter in China.
Job Overview
The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for our procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for automotive R&D projects. The role ensures that purchasing processes meet quality standards, delivery timelines, and cost control objectives. Close collaboration with suppliers and internal teams is essential to support the efficient progress of automotive R&D projects. Fluency in German and English is required to facilitate cross-cultural coordination.
Job Responsibilities
- Procurement Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with project teams to prepare detailed procurement plans, specifying the materials, equipment, and services required and aligning with budgets.
- Conduct tendering, price comparison, supplier evaluation, and ensure efficient and compliant purchasing processes.
2.Supplier Management:
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain a robust supplier base in Germany and across Europe, building long-term partnerships.
- Regularly assess suppliers' capacity, quality, and service levels, and adjust supplier strategies accordingly.
3.Cost Control and Negotiation:
- Conduct market research and analysis to optimize procurement costs and identify the best value-for-money solutions.
- Negotiate contract terms, prices, and payment conditions with suppliers to meet project needs while controlling costs.
4.Procurement Process Management:
- Create, approve, and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Address procurement-related issues, such as delivery delays, quality discrepancies, or quantity mismatches, ensuring quick resolution.
5.Quality and Compliance Management:
- Ensure all purchased materials, equipment, and services meet technical requirements and quality standards.
- Adhere strictly to company procurement policies, German and EU regulations, and audit requirements.
6.Cross-Cultural Communication and Coordination:
- Act as a bridge between the Chinese headquarters and international teams, aligning procurement requirements and driving projects forward.
- Assist local teams in liaising with Chinese suppliers or headquarters to ensure smooth cross-cultural collaboration.
7.Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Consolidate procurement data regularly and generate analysis reports to quantify procurement performance.
- Contribute to procurement strategy development and support initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related fields.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in procurement; experience in the automotive or R&D sectors is preferred.
- Native German speaker, fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, Chinese will be a big plus.
- Proficient in cross-cultural business negotiation and contract management.
- Familiarity with German and European procurement regulations and processes, including tendering, contract management, and cost analysis.
- Proficiency in procurement management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Strong negotiation, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
